How long do animals stay in foster care?
The length of time varies depending on the animal’s age, health, and how quickly they are adopted. Some pets may only need a few weeks of foster care, while others — such as young kittens, puppies, or animals recovering from illness — may need several months. We’ll always discuss the expected timeframe with you before placement and work to find a foster situation that fits your availability.
What expenses are covered?
Our organization covers all approved veterinary care and medical expenses for foster animals. We also provide essential supplies such as food, crates, bedding, and medications when needed. If you purchase any approved items for your foster pet, we can arrange reimbursement. Foster families provide a safe, loving home — we take care of the rest.
Can I foster if I have pets?
Yes, many of our foster families have pets of their own. In fact, resident pets can sometimes help foster animals adjust more quickly. We carefully match foster placements based on temperament, energy level, and your household setup to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable. Slow introductions and proper separation at the beginning are always recommended, and we’ll guide you through that process.
What if I need to travel?
We understand that plans come up. If you know you’ll be traveling, just let us know as early as possible. In most cases, we can arrange a temporary foster placement or have the animal return to us while you’re away. We work as a team and will make sure your foster pet continues to receive care and support during that time.
