🐾 Welcome to Salsa's Legacy Rescue Giving Animals a Second Chance at Life
At Salsa's Legacy Rescue, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals with the care, love, and healing they need to thrive — and ultimately find the forever homes they deserve. We are a passionate, home-based rescue serving communities in North West Ohio.
Every animal that enters our care receives full veterinary treatment, a safe and nurturing environment, and the time they need to recover physically and emotionally. Animals are only listed for adoption once they are fully vetted, healthy, and ready for a fresh start. As part of our care programs, all cats are dewormed, receive the FVRCP vaccine, rabies vaccine, and are spayed or neutered by licensed veterinarians, while other animals receive appropriate medical care based on their species and needs. Rabies vaccinations and spay/neuter services are provided by a licensed veterinarian. The veterinary services included with each adoption represent a value of $300–$600 or more if obtained independently. Feral cats are not available for adoption; instead, they are included in our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, which humanely manages and helps reduce the local feral cat population.

💛 A Lifelong Love, Turned Into a Lifesaving Mission
Salsa’s Legacy Rescue was founded in June 2025 by a young woman whose heart has always belonged to animals. Growing up, her natural connection with creatures great and small earned her the nickname “Ellie May.” One of her first rescues? A tiny, orphaned baby possum she cleaned it up and safely delivered it to a wildlife center. That same spirit of compassion now fuels this rescue.
With years of hands-on experience in kennels, veterinary clinics, and her current role as a Veterinary Assistant, she turned her lifelong passion into a real mission — one cat at a time.

🧡 A Personal Note from the Founder’s Family
In June 2024, I adopted a sweet red tabby named Garfield — a perfect match chosen by my daughter, who knew I had a soft spot for orange cats. He’s brought so much joy to our family and is a daily reminder of what makes Salsa’s Legacy Rescue so special.
