Salsa’s Legacy Rescue is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors committed to responsible nonprofit leadership, financial stewardship, and animal welfare. As a registered 501(c)(3) organization, our board provides oversight, strategic direction, and accountability to ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission.

Ashley Short

Founder, President & Treasurer

Ashley founded Salsa’s Legacy Rescue in June 2025 with a deep commitment to providing safe, compassionate care for animals in need. As President and Treasurer, she provides strategic leadership and oversees financial management, ensuring responsible stewardship of donor funds and organizational resources. Ashley remains actively involved in rescue operations and long-term planning as the organization grows.

Ritchie Short

Vice President & Operations/Technology Support

Ritchie serves as Vice President and manages back-office operations and technical infrastructure for the rescue. He oversees day-to-day operational systems, website and IT functions, and internal processes, ensuring the organization runs efficiently and can respond effectively to the needs of animals in our care.

Mackenzie Ponder

Secretary

Mackenzie serves as Secretary of the Board, maintaining official records and supporting governance compliance. Her role ensures accurate documentation and transparency in board operations.

Hilary Miller RVT

Board Member

Hilary is a professional pet groomer at J&K Mega Pet in Warsaw and brings hands-on animal care expertise to the board. She is also a registered veterinary technician with years of experience, further strengthening her clinical knowledge and commitment to animal health and well being. In addition, she fosters cats in her care, providing safe temporary homes and individualized attention for animals awaiting adoption.

Erin Thomas

Foster Coordinator

Erin oversees the rescue’s foster program, coordinating placements and supporting foster families. Her work ensures animals receive consistent care and preparation for successful adoption.

Codie Collins

Board Member

Codie serves as a board member, supporting the organization’s mission through leadership, community involvement, and strategic guidance.
